The BEFORE project will contribute to the generation and improvement of employment as results of the improvement achieved by better focus and efficiency of regional RTD policies. This will specially be so since the recommended RTD policies will be specifically focused on rural areas where the majority of the companies are SMEs.
Also the incorporation of RTD procedures will contribute to European policies regarding Environment. BEFORE, will carry out prospective studies on sectors intensive in knowledge and with high added value. These studies will allow the incorporation in the enterprises of new technologies that favour the protection of environment and Sustainable Development, promoting the elimination of obsolete and highly pollutant technologies that damage the ecosystems. In the framework of the BEFORE project, there will develop tasks of economic intelligence in the sector of the renewable energies.

Rural areas have a large participation of working women, especially when compared to other industrial areas.
The incorporation of technology to production systems implies frequently an easier women's access to new jobs, free of connotations and where education and training dominates the selection of personnel. The development of future sectors, intensive in technology and with added might once again help balance the opportunities of men and women to access the labour market.
